Do I qualify as a disabled person under the DDA?
The DDA defines 'disability' in a specific way. To have rights under the DDA, you will have to show you meet this definition.The next section explains the DDA definition of disability in detail. Who else is covered?
The employment provisions of the DDA also apply to:
- trade organisations (for example, trade unions);
- qualification bodies (for example, General Medical Council, Law Society)
- providers of employment services (for example, employment agencies, careers guidance services).
The DDA also forbids disability discrimination in occupational pension and group insurance schemes provided to employees (for example, contractual benefits such as free or discounted medical insurance).
